Venue and logistics information

Entry to the ground on competition days
There is no entry fee for competitors or spectators for APBC2016. The event program will be for sale at the entrance points to both competition grounds on Saturday and to the main oval (called Knox 1) on Sunday.

There are two sites being used for the competition which are a short (walking) distance from each other:

The main entry points for Knox 1 are Gate 2A Borambil Street and Gate 1 Woodville Avenue. Gillespie has two entry gates along Bangalla Street, and the entrance to parking on Young Street.

Parking during APBC2016
During both Saturday and Sunday competition days, there will be paid ($5) at both the Borambil Street car park (Gate 3 under tennis courts) and at Lower Gillespie with entrance via Young street. On Saturday this will cater for about 500 cars and on Sunday about 700. There is normal street parking available (refer to appropriate street signage).

Moving from Gillespie to Knox

2016 Knox Senior School and Gillespie Fields Map (PDF, 1.4mb)

The walk from Knox to Gillespie is about 500 metres. It is down-hill from Knox to Gillespie and uphill coming back. To assist in transferring both people and equipment, we will be running a bus on 15 minute departure intervals leaving from the gate at Gillespie Field and stopping for both set-down and pick up at Warrawee Station bus stop on Warrawee Avenue which is very close to the entrance to the school.

Preliminary Street march information
The street march is through the grounds of the school. It will commence outside the “Great Hall” just inside Gate 1 off Woodville Avenue. The march will finish under the arch of the Knox Senior Secondary Academy near Gate 2A Borambil Street. (Note at this point, which is passed the adjudication zone, the road is only wide enough for 5 -6 players across.) The march empties bands onto the main oval in immediate preparation for massed bands and presentations. The lower car parks near the Aquatic center will be empty and used for tune up and marshaling for massed bands. (Woodville Ave)

Preliminary tune up information
The tennis court area, chapel lawns and Borambil Street is the main tune up areas for bands about to play on Knox 1. Fine tuning will be in a marked area on the fringe of Knox 1. Bands are encouraged to start on the chapel lawn and move down Borambil Street as their performance time approaches.

Lower Gillespie will be divided into 2 on Saturday, half for parking and half for tuning up. Bands performing at Gillespie are encouraged to commence tuning on lower Gillespie and make their way to final tuning on upper Gillespie on their way to the competition circle.
